Sir Bani Yas Island: Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
The ultimate triathlon experience, there’s nothing else like this on the planet!
This is set to be the most unique triathlon experience in the world, on the historical Sir Bani Yas Island, a natural island located offshore from Abu Dhabi, within the beautiful Arabian Gulf. The largest natural island in the United Arab Emirates, Sir Bani Yas wildlife reserve makes up more than half of this incredible island and is home to more than 17,000 free-roaming animals, including Arabian oryx, gazelles, giraffes, hyenas, and cheetahs, and several million trees and plants.
Renowned for its stunning natural beauty the island offers an array of activities from exploring mangroves by kayak and observing wild flamingos to horse riding and mountain hikes; while water sports enthusiasts can enjoy boating, jet-skis, and snorkelling. The island also offers several heritage sites to discover and explore.
Swim – launch yourself into the turquoise crystal-clear waters of the Arabian Gulf. The swim course loop is positioned on the southeast of the island, protected from swells, and offering calm waters.
Bike – the smooth fast rolling surface of the ring road circuit, takes you around the entire island, giving you the change to catch a glimpse of the abundant wildlife (don’t worry the cheetahs and hyenas are in safe enclosures!) and the natural island beauty. The newly laid road ensures a smooth ride and with no traffic to contend with. While the ring road is flat, the islands connecting roads which wind through the centre of the island will test your climbing legs and offer you glorious views of the island.
Run – a flat and smooth-running course will offer one of the most scenic and unique race routes, the aqua blue Arabian Gulf in full view, rugged natural landscapes, and native wildlife to race against as you approach the finish line.
